Over the years the Club has undertaken various special projects. These include:

Samuel Baron: Memorable Performances 1966-1996

Samuel Baron: Memorable Performances 1966-1996

The Club is proud to announce publication of a two-CD compilation of solo and chamber music performances by our longtime member and colleague Samuel Baron. It includes many live concert performances with the Bach Aria Group, Jean-Pierre Rampal, and other noted artists, as well as rare and out-of-print commercial recordings ranging from Bach and Telemann to Varése and Alec Wilder. This project represents nearly ten years of work by Sam’s friends, colleagues, and family, and we are very grateful for their efforts. The CDs will be available for purchase at all Club events, or you may mail us a check with this downloadable order form (PDF, Requires Acrobat Reader). NYFC members receive a $5 (16%) discount off the $30 list price.

Henry Brant: Music for Massed Flutes
(New World CD 80636-2)

Henry Brant: Music for Massed Flutes

Performances by leading NYFC members, past and present, of massed flute works by one of our most important contemporary composers. This recording of Angels and Devils (1931) is a re-mastering of the historic LP released on CRI in 1956, with Frederick Wilkins as soloist and Henry Brant conducting. The assisting artists are a Who’s Who of mid-20th century New York flutists. Mass in Gregorian Chant for Multiple Flutes (1984) and Ghosts and Gargoyles (2001) feature soloist Robert Aitken, who gave the New York premiere of the latter work at the 2003 New York Flute Fair.

The Club gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, which made the project possible. The CD will be for sale at all NYFC events for $15 (cash or checks only), from online and local music stores, and from New World Records.
