YOUNG MUSICIANS CONTEST
Sunday, March 4, 2012
The Young Musicians Contest will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Greenwich House Music School located at 46 Barrow St. in New York City from 9:00-6:00 p.m.. There will be four categories: age 8 and under, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, and 15 to 17 years old (based on age as of March 1). The winners from each category will perform in concert with the winners of the NY Flute Club Competition at the Engelman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center, 55 Lexington Avenue (entrance on 25th Street), New York, NY, on Sunday, April 22, 2012. In order to enter, contestants must pay a $25 entrance fee and have a teacher who is a New York Flute Club member; please print out the registration form and submit by the February 17th deadline. Last year’s winners are not eligible to compete in the same age category. Further details about requirements and repertoire are stated on the application. Contestants will receive notification of their audition time via email on March 1st. Unfortunately, specific audition time requests cannot be considered. The New York Flute Club held its inaugural Young Musicians Contest, designed for pre-collegiate flutists, in 2009. There are four categories: age 8 and under, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, and 15 to 17 years old (based on age as of March 1). In order to enter, contestants must pay an entrance fee and have a teacher who is a New York Flute Club member. A new Young Musicians Contest will take place in early 2012; the winners from each category in the contest will perform in concert at The New York Flute Club on April 22, 2012.
