New York Flute Club Competition: The NYFC Competition has been recognizing rising artists for more than four decades. Previous winners have gone on to distinguished solo careers and positions in major orchestras, and they teach in top conservatories and colleges.

Flutists ages 18-27 are eligible to compete in the annual New York Flute Club Competition. Preliminary and final rounds for the 2024 competition will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, with the final round presented at the New York Flute Fair that day. Each prize winner wins a cash honorarium and will perform on the Flute Club's concert series in April. The application deadline is February 24, 2024.

Prizes:  1st Prize: $1,000, sponsored by the Flute Center of New York

2nd Prize: $600  •  3rd Prize: $400.

Young Musicians Contest: The New York Flute Club also sponsors a Young Musicians Contest for flutists up to age 18. The contest, first held in 2008, was designed to foster the development of young local flutists by exposing them to a healthy competitive environment and allowing them to receive constructive comments from professional flutists.

The contest is divided into four age groups: ages 8 and under, 9 to 11, 12 to 14, and 15 to 18 years of age (in the last category, students must currently be in high school or the home schooling equivalent). Applications for the 2024 Young Musicians Contest must be received by Thursday, February 1, 2024. The contest is scheduled for Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the School for Strings. Winners will be announced on or before Sunday, March 3, 2024. Winners will  perform at the 2024 New York Flute Fair, which will happen on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The New York Flute Club Career Challenge: Created in 2021 in response to the pandemic and the effect it has had on all of us, particularly those who were jolted out of mid-stage career building, the Career Challenge is for flutists 28 and over with no upper age limit. A panel of distinguished judges will choose three winners with an emphasis on individuality, musicianship, and artistry. The winners will each perform one of the three pieces in a virtual recital sponsored by the New York Flute Club in May. As the purpose of this competition is to incentivize professional level players to compete for the joy of it, there will be no cash prize. Video entries for the 2021 Career Challenge are due on or before Thursday, April 8, 2021. More about the winners and their concert here.

Composition Competition. The New York Flute Club was pleased to announce the winners of the 2014-15 season of the NYFC's second Composition Contest. The composers and their works were featured in a recital at the 2015 New York Flute Fair and can be heard here on the NYFC site. Congratulations to the winners.
