David Wechsler

David Wechsler is the founder and music director of the OMNI Ensemble. He is the principal flutist and personnel manager of the Connecticut Grand Opera, and the second flutist of the Brooklyn Philharmonic. Mr. Wechsler has played principal flute and various other chairs with many groups, including the Key West Symphony, Discovery Orchestra, New York Pops, New Jersey Symphony, American Symphony, American Composers Orchestra, New York City Opera, New York Grand Opera, Westchester Philharmonic, and Long Island Philharmonic.
Mr. Wechsler has performed in many Broadway shows, including Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Aida, Les Miserables, La Bohème, and The Lion King. He is active in the recording field as well, playing sessions for film and TV, including scores by Phillip Glass and Ryuichi Sakamoto. As an electronic musician and composer, he performs on the midi wind controller and has written numerous works for live electronics and conventional instruments.
David Wechsler holds degrees from Brooklyn College and SUNY at Stony Brook, and is currently a doctoral candidate at the CUNY Graduate Center. He is on the faculty of the CUNY College of Staten Island, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, and the Poly Prep Country Day School.
