New York Flute Club Competition. Flutists ages 18 to 27 are eligible to compete in the annual New York Flute Club Competition. Preliminary and final auditions are held at the annual New York Flute Fair (this year on March 12, 2017, at the Columbia University Faculty House in NYC). Each prize winner receives the certificate of the New York Flute Club, a cash honorarium, and perform at the spring Competition Winners Recital on Sunday, April 30, 2017. Applications must be postmarked or emailed on or before February 3, 2017. See the NYFC Competition page for requirements.
Prizes: 1st Prize: $1,000, sponsored by the Flute Center of New York
2nd Prize: $600 • 3rd Prize: $400.
Young Musicians Contest. The New York Flute Club also sponsors a Young Musicians Contest for flutists up to age 18. The contest, designed for pre-collegiate flutists, has four age categories: age 8 and under; 9 to 11; 12 to 14; and 15 to 18 years of age, with the requirement that the students must currently be in high school or the home equivalent. This year the contest will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the School for Strings on West 54th Street in NYC. The application deadline is January 15, 2017, though late applications will be accepted until January 22 for an additional fee.
The 2017 winners will play at the Flute Fair on Sunday, March 12, 2017.
Composition Competition. The New York Flute Club was pleased to announce the winners of the 2014-15 season of the NYFC's second Composition Contest. The composers and their works were featured in a recital at the 2015 New York Flute Fair and can be heard here on the NYFC site. Congratulations to the winners.
